Dark Eyed (Oregon) Junco

Fitting that one of our first visitors at our old West Seattle location is also one of the first here in Davis. Our first regular visitors, several timid Dark Eyed Juncos, Oregon form, (Junco hyemalis) have been visiting us at least twice a day in the morning and evening. These little guys are content to forage on the ground below the feeders and throughout the lawn. Despite hearing that their appearance varies quite a bit by location, these little guys look very similar to those we had visit in Seattle earlier this spring.

Another first, I’ll be trying to post some video clips from time to time as well as snap shots and hopefully get the motion sensor feedercam back up soon. As with everything birdcam, its all experimental, so expect constant changes and (hopefully) improvements (like a tripod or less caffeine!) over time.

Enjoy!
